Reggie Jackson Baseball Bats

Mr. October started his Major League career in 1967 with the Kansas City Athletics. He also played for the Oakland A's, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees and California Angles. In 1968 The A's moved to Oakland California. He had a break out year and hit 47 home runs. In the 1971 All Star Game Reggie hit a home run that hit the transformer in the right field stands. The A's won the World Series in 1972. Reggie received the AL MVP award in 1973.

In 1976 Reggie headed east. The Yankees signed Jackson to a 5 year contract. It didn't start off well in New York for Reggie. Manager Martin and Reggie had a tense relationship. Soon after an interview ran in SPORT magazine the Reggie and his teammates grew apart. George Steinbrenner's relationship with Reggie was tense also. During one game in Boston, Martin and Jackson got into an altercation. Jackson had to restrain Martin. That year the Yankees went on to the World Series against the Dodgers. Thurman Munson told an interviewer to go ask 'Mr. October'. The nickname stuck from then on. He was voted into the Hall of Fame in 1993 wearing a Yankees hat.

Sports collectors often look for memorabilia, such as vintage baseball bats, based more on the performance of the player than the team they played with. Reggie Jackson's performance on the field ensured that his baseball bats would find their way into the collections of a variety of sports fans.
