 Johannes Peter Honus Wagner played Major League Baseball from 1897 to 1917. He may be one the best short stops ever to play the game. He started his career as a Louisville Colonel. His career really took off when he played with the Pittsburg Pirates. He won a batting championship in 1900. He also had the most triples and doubles in the league.

 In the first World Series he Pirates played against the Boston Americans. Wagner had a poor showing but would redeem himself when the Pirates played the Tigers in the 1909 World Series. In 1936 Wagner went into the Hall of the Fame. He died 1955 in Pennsylvania.
