1920's Baseball Bats

1920s Baseball Bats

The period prior to the 1920's was known in baseball as the 'dead ball era' in reference to the lack of hits by players. Dramatic changes such as outfield fences being brought in closer to the infield in larger parks and new rules that determined the construction and design of the ball that made the ball go farther when hit by a bat. These changes worked to the advantage of batters and made for more exciting games.

Today collectors are excited to get their hands on vintage 1920's baseball bats. Autographed bats are always popular, but just about any vintage 1920's baseball bat in premium condition is a winner in the eyes of a collector. The 1920's baseball bats represent a time when the game changed for the better for good.

The 1920's saw the rise of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. There were also great Negro league players in this decade. James 'cool Papa' was one of the most famous baseball players in the Negro league. Ty Cobb is another notable player from this era. Bats by these players are extremely rare but can worth quite a bit of money. You can also by Draper and Maynard bats. These are still floating around and can be found in good condition.
